For most pregnancies, patients are seen at the following times:
- Between your positive pregnancy test and 28 weeks, you will be seen every four weeks
- Between 28 weeks and 36 weeks, you will be seen every 2 weeks
- After 36 weeks, you will be seen every week until you deliver
There is always a team member available to you — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For after-clinic hours, an answering service will connect you directly with the doctor on call.
If you have not felt your baby move, have broken your water, have painful frequent contractions or vaginal bleeding like a period, go directly to the Labour and Delivery Unit at St Joseph’s Hospital to be assessed by a member of our team.
The Program for Substance Use in Pregnancy (PROSPR) at the Maternity Centre of Hamilton is an integrated prenatal and substance use care program for pregnant people with substance use disorders. We provide a one-stop model where individuals can receive:
- prenatal care
- substance use care, including methadone or suboxone
- mental health support
- social work
- linkages to primary care

Self-referrals are accepted by phone or in-person. Healthcare providers may refer by fax: 905-528-9178 (please include prenatal investigations and obstetrical history if available).

Public Health Nurses provide information to assist expectant parents and families who have children under six years of age on a wide variety of health topics including breastfeeding/breastfeeding clinics, questions about parenting, postpartum depression and the Healthy Babies, Healthy Children Program.
